Library Week occurred April 3-7, 2000. We did not hold a book sale this year: owing to the Library Project's construction, the sale's traditional location (the foyer and outdoor wings of Old LaGuardia) was unavailable, and there was no place else on campus to hold this popular yet sprawling and messy event. In fact, it seems that the book sale as we knew it will likely become a thing of the past: in the new Library, perhaps we will institute an ongoing sale using a room staffed several hours a week by work-study students.

Our theme for Library Week 1999/2000 was "Electrifying the Book: Evolutionary or Revolutionary?" Once again graphics designer Dorcas Gelabert created a beautiful Library Week button reflecting the theme. We also held the traditional Student Essay Contest, with prizes donated by the Bookstore, as well as a drawing of paging request forms for another Bookstore gift certificate.
