In October 2000 at the invitation of the Ministry of Culture of the People's Republic, Barbra Higginbotham lectured at three of China's top ten universities--Tsinghua University in Beijing (China's MIT), and Xi'an and Shanghai Jiaotong Universities--all top-flight institutions with emphasis on the sciences. Once the staff occupy the new Library in the 2001/2002 academic year, Dr. Higginbotham plans to bring Chinese librarians to Brooklyn College as interns, and to send librarians from Brooklyn College to intern in China. Interviews with Dr. Higginbotham about her China experience are slated for spring issues of the College's alumni/ae magazine, and the METRO Newsletter.
