During 2002-2003 Archival Assistant Marianne LaBatto and her staff mounted these attractive and educational exhibits:

"George Edelman" - Reference Reading Room, Field Library – This exhibit, based on the colorful football career of alumnus George Edelman, was curated by Marisa Martinelli, a graduate student in the History Department.

"Euclid and the House Plan Association" - Boylan Hall Exhibit Cases – This informative exhibit described the vibrant House Plan Association which dominated the social club scene in the 1940's and 1950's. The material for this show came from a scrapbook donated to the archives by the Alumni Office. After conservator Slava Polishchuk treated and restored the documents, we were able to display them.

"Treasures from the Archives" - New Library – Our inaugural exhibit for the new Library highlighted the four main areas of our collections: Brooklyn College History, Brooklyniana, Rare Books, and the Hess Collection on Ethiopia and the Horn of Africa. Our intern from the History Department Marisa Marinelli aided the staff in selecting the materials.

"MFA Exhibit" - New Library - Our conservator Slava Polishchuk scouted the new Library for the best locations for this student art show. Blank walls were immediately enhanced by the artwork, lending a finished and inviting look to a Library that was still somewhat incomplete. Slava supervised the hanging of the art and photographed each piece for inclusion in the catalog. He and Marianne LaBatto worked on the design of the catalog using text provided by Miriam Deutch. The catalog was produced in-house, requiring approximately two weeks from design to production.

"Beaches of Brooklyn" - New Library - Marianne LaBatto curated this exhibit and installed it with much assistance from Slava Polishchuk and Edythe Rosenblatt. The materials are part of our new collection The Kingsborough Historical Society Collection at Brooklyn College. The exhibit opened with a formal ceremony and ribbon cutting attended by President Byron McClenney, Kingsborough Community College; Professor John Manbeck, former Brooklyn Borough Historian; and President Christoph Kimmich, marking the official transfer of the collection to the Brooklyn College Archives.
