Exhibits

During 2003-2004 Associate Archivist Marianne LaBatto and her staff mounted these attractive and educational exhibits:

"Named in Honor" - Boylan Hall. Ever wonder who Boylan or Ingersoll was? This exhibit profiles the names behind the buildings, from William James to FDR. Additionally our conservator Slava Polishchuk recovered the interiors of the exhibit cases outside the president's office, consigning the existing tired burlap to oblivion.

"Turning Over A New Leaf" - Library. This exhibit highlights the marvelous restoration work done in the Library's conservation lab. Thanks to digital photography, we can show visitors what books looked like before, during, and after the process. These extreme make-overs are incredible, with a bow to popular culture what one might call a "Conservator's Look for the Dilapidated Book." (But the Library doesn't need Bravo's Fab 5--we have our very own Slava Polishchuk.)

"USS Brooklyn" - Library. http://www.brooklyn.cuny.edu/bc/spotlite/news/052705.htm This exhibit commemorating the reinstallation of the World War II cruiser USS Brooklyn's bell opened June 10 with a lovely ceremony and reception. As part of the Library Project, a special plinth was designed for the bell which rests in the Special Collections gallery.
