NEW MEDIA CENTER
The New Media Center provides faculty and students with a state-of-the-art computing facility, viewing/presentation rooms for small and large groups or classes, and set-ups and staffing for events in the Woody Tanger Auditorium.
NMC staff need roller skates! They man the service desk, assign computers, distribute printouts, assist students with software and hardware, support/set up the seven group viewing rooms, manage the Library's video collection, supply on-site support and supervision for the Woody Tanger Auditorium, handle emergency AV requests, digitize materials, and staff the L4 lab. Furthermore, these responsibilities span three floors of the Library.
LIBRARY LOWER LEVEL LAB (L4)
"After some initial problems recruiting staff, the L4 initiative is a success. We are enjoying working with the AIT staff. The area is busy, users are asking reference questions as they work on their papers, and everyone seems satisfied." Jane Cramer, Government Publications, Periodicals, & Microforms Librarian
L4 opened for business in February 2005 with 85 machines.
WOODY TANGER AUDITORIUM
This beautiful space is heavily used (charts detailing the 100+ events held in the WTA in 2004-2005 appear later this report). During the summer the space will be significantly improved with a new projector and other audio and video enhancements, including a network-based security camera.
