The biggest compendium of Federal Statistics, with explanatory material for each chapter tables give sources for further research. Note--the index is to tables not pages.

This 5 volume set replaces Historical Statistical Abstract issued by the Census for the American Bicentennial in 1976. It adds 30 years of data and greatly expands the coverage. Volumes cover population, work and welfare, economic structure and performance, economic sectors and governance and international relations. Users can now download and save data as well as do their own computations. Available online here and in print in the Government Documents area.

STAT-USA http://www.stat-usa.gov/
(Available on campus workstations only, ask at Service Desk to be logged in) Stat-USA, a product of US Department of Commerce, has authoritative information from the federal government for the US business, economic and trade community and for anyone doing research in those areas. Databases are grouped by US and global data. Although sponsored by the Department of Commerce, data is not limited to information collected by it. Check out the Trade Library and the Country Map Search features.

ICPSR http://www.icpsr.umich.edu/
provides access to a vast archive of social science data for research. ICPSR supplies data files for use with statistical software, such as SAS, SPSS, and Stata. Please note that ICPSR does not provide publications, reports, or ready-made statistics. What we do supply are the numeric raw data used to create publications, reports, and figures. To view findings that others have published, select the "related literature" link for a given data set on the search results page or at the top of each study description.

    Many of the center's reports and publications are available here. The site is searchable and user friendly.
      Quick Tables and Figures http://nces.ed.gov/quicktables/
      This search tool lets you locate all tables/figures/charts published in the inventory of NCES' Education Statistics Quarterly; the National Education Data Resource Center (NEDRC) Post Secondary Tables Library; the Condition of Education; the Digest of Education Statistics, and other NCES publication. Tables are constantly being added to this database (close to 4,500 tables, graphs, and figures are now available).
