Reserve Room

The Reserve Reading Room serves multiple purposes and is open when the rest of the Library is open. Located on the 1st floor of the Library, to the left of the security guard in the lobby, the Reserve Room is set up specifically for quiet individual study. If you find that you need to collaborate with your friends or classmates, please consider reserving a group study room at the Circulation Desk.

Computers

The Reserve Room provides 24 computers that are freely available but you are more than welcome to use your personal laptop while there. (You will be able to hook up to the wireless network that is available throughout the Library.) Please be aware that Brooklyn College does not yet support wireless printing. You can, however, print from any desktop PC in the room.

Reserve Material

In addition to the computers and the seating/studying setup, the Reserve Room is also where you go to pick up a book or other material that your professor has placed on reserve.

Many professors request that heavily used materials (such as textbooks, required readings, or class assignments) be placed on reserve for their classes. The Reserve collection also includes items kept on permanent reserve because of their continuous high demand.

Also, some professors place items on E-Reserve, allowing 24/7 access to required materials via Blackboard.

Using Reserve Material

Items placed on on-site reserve by instructors — books, articles, and personal copies — may be requested at the Reserves Desk on the 1st floor of the library. In order to identify an item that is on reserve, you must check the catalog and confirm that it is available in Brooklyn Reserve.

Books on reserve are available for short periods of time. These loan periods allow many students to have access to the materials:

Late Fees

Items returned late incur late fees.

Late fines at the Brooklyn College Library are:
