The J. Paul Getty Trust provides access to the Bibliography of the History of Art (BHA) and the Répertoire de la Litterature de l'art (RILA). The bibliographic databases, searchable together, cover European and American visual arts material. The BHA covers the years 1990-2007, and the RILA covers the years 1975-1989. Bibliographic information provided by the database includes title, document type, ISBN, and abstract, and the database includes all records with abstracts in French and English. The results are also linked by subject terms in French and English, which will allow users to connect to other related materials.

Smarthistory.org is a free multi-media web-book designed as a dynamic enhancement (or even substitute) for the traditional art history textbook. Dr. Beth Harris and Dr. Steven Zucker began smARThistory in 2005 by creating a blog featuring free audio guides in the form of podcasts for use in The Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Soon after, we embedded the audio files in our online survey courses. The response from our students was so positive that we decided to create a multi-media survey of art history web-book. We created audios and videos about works of art found in standard art history survey texts, organized the files stylistically and chronologically, and added text and still images.
This collection comprises the largest source in the world of primary source documentation on the visual arts in America. Contained in the over five thousand collections, are letters, diaries, sketches and sketchbooks, exhibition catalogs, scrapbooks, business records, art periodicals, and other types of documents. The collections, combined with approximately three thousand interviews done for the AAA's oral history program and nearly one thousand photographs in the AAA's photographs of Artists Collections, provides excellent source material.
