MEDLINE is the National Library of Medicine's bibliographic database of citations and abstracts for the disciplines of biomedicine and health, encompassing the areas of life, behavioral, and chemical sciences, and bioengineering needed by health professionals engaged in basic research and clinical care, public health, or health policy development. MEDLINE also covers life sciences vital to biomedical practitioners, researchers, and educators, including biology, environmental science, marine biology, plant and animal science, biophysics and chemistry.
