By showing their Alumni Association ID card, Brooklyn College graduates receive access to the Library gratis. Alumni may secure an Alumni card from the Brooklyn College Alumni Affairs Office, 1239 Ingersoll, (718) 951-5065.
For borrowing privileges, Alumni/ae may join Friends of the Library for an annual fee of $60.00. If you are a Brooklyn College Alumni/ae you must present proof of graduation. Telephone (718) 951-5335 for Library hours and information about acceptable forms of proof.
To join Friends of the Library for the first time, please come to the Library Circulation desk on the 1st Floor. To renew your membership to the Friends of the Library please ask for a form at the Circulation Desk.
If a spouse or child(ren) is accompanied by a Brooklyn College faculty member, staff, or student with a valid BC ID, the spouse or child(ren) does not need to present ID to the Security Officer on duty. He or she will be allowed access to the Library.
If the spouse or child(ren) is not accompanied by a Brooklyn College faculty member, staff, or student, and the spouse or child(ren) does not have an ID card, that person shall be denied access to the Library. He or she should be told to return to the Library with the person who has the valid BC ID and request an access card at the Circulation Desk (1st floor).
NB: All children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a Brooklyn College faculty members, staff, or student. Children under the age of 16 from the Prep Center for the Performing Arts must be accompanied by an adult.
Those who enter the Library must show one of the following valid identification cards: Brooklyn College, CUNY, SUNY student, faculty or staff; B.C. Alumni, B.C. Adult Education Student, Institute of Retired Professionals and Executives, Friends of the Library, Brooklyn College Prep Center for the Performing Arts; CUNY PH.D. Alumni Card, Midwood High School faculty, Academic Libraries of Brooklyn or METRO.
Persons who are not affiliated with CUNY or who do not hold one of the above identification cards may join Friends of the Library to obtain access and/or borrowing privileges.

Anyone interested in the collections and services of the Library is welcome to join Friends of the Library. Members may use the Library for pleasure, reference, and research.
Members of the Friends of the Library receive mailings about Library activities. They have the personal satisfaction of fostering the growth of the Library, as their dues add new and important books to the collections. Members are entitled to a tax deduction for their membership dues and other contributions they make to the Friends of the Library.
