Description:

Ayiti in the City is a culturally immersive experience for CUNY Students. We’ve conceptualized it as a local “study abroad” because we share and promote the history, culture, customs and impact of Haiti and its people without foreign travel. Through this program, we endeavor to expose our students to scholars of Haitian studies, practitioners of Haitian culture, as well as leaders and activists of the local Little Haiti community.

Community members are warmly invited to join Ayiti in the City Students for session featuring a distinguished Haitian Studies scholar, who will present on the topic "The Reverberations of the Haitian Revolution on the Atlantic World." This engaging talk will explore the far-reaching impact of the Haitian Revolution beyond the borders of Haiti and its lasting significance in global history.
