I grew up in China and loved it. I am an international student for fall semester 2009. I love this great Brooklyn College Library and I am very interested in Art collection. I love it.

I grew up with the Brooklyn Navy Yard and loved it. But I would have been outraged at the heritage they destroyed in the name of war. Glad some artist recorded it before it was gone.

Praying Girl
Käthe Kollwitz
Praying Girl
Excellent! I never thought that "MY ALMA MATER" had such a wonderful museum. I am surprised. Käthe Kollwitz who expresses human suffering in artistic terms will in her work will remain engraved in my memory. This work "Praying Girl" is my favorite. It gives me the impression that praying is good and one must always pray whenever it is possible.

This painting is the heart of the new Library: it seems as if it were painted especially for this beautiful space.

Nice color scheme, but I'd simply use something like this to show clients the balance of colors I plan to use in an actual project. On its own it is not inspiring, thoughtful or skillful.

I think I dreamt this, and I bet I'm not the only one - a dangerous, mysterious island beacons us to its shores, but who can say why?

O, the hours this took - all those intricate rectangles on such a delicate series of curves. I could stare at it endlessly.

The Musical Mermaid
Such a beautiful use of materials. Lush and lyrical. Too ban the photo is so flat with such a glaring flash and harsh shadows. There's much more depth in that stone.

Wow! Such fun colors and shading and such a great use of shape and depth! I had to read the description to see the cup. It strikes me as some fantastic piece of machinery.

Murray's work hangs on the walls of art institutions such as MOMA - for the library to have such a spectacular piece is almost unbelievable. Murray was a professor in Brooklyn College's art department; this is an amazing gift that students can enjoy immediately and up-close.

This work inspired a thoughtful response from a talented undergraduate -- which won one of the two 2008 Art Prizes (see the link above).

Wow - how great that BC has one of Xu Bing's works! He's one of my favorite contemporary Chinese artists. I might even have to check out a book about him from the collection.
