Theme 3: Electronic Information Resources

"Clearly, journals are smack in the middle of the e-revolution. While the Library offers netLibrary with its hundreds of full-text monograph titles, it's a far cry from the number of serials now offering full-text electronic access. The decision to "go electronic" (and to cancel print) is taken very seriously here in the Library; archival issues and fluctuating pricing structures necessitate a cautious approach. On the other hand, the students flock to full-text e-journals for their research papers, professors in the sciences are delighted with the currency and accessibility of their very pricey journals, and we in the Serials Unit are more than happy to add URLs to cataloging records if it means we are spared the tedium of periodical check-ins and the ever painful claims process."
