A guide for online catalog users, "Searching for Music Materials in CUNY+," written by librarian Honora Raphael, was added to the "Research Resource: Music" page on the Library's Web site.
At the start of the spring 2001 term the Music Library was outfitted with a public access computer dedicated to Internet access. The Library's acquisition of electronic versions of the two most important English-language research resources for music topics, The New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians and RILM made this public-access equipment essential.
With more and more electronic full-text available, both on campus and through the proxy server, the Music Library's staff have aggressively publicized these new resources and trained readers their use. Staff training must be on-going, to guarantee excellent public service.
With the closing of the shelf list, in spring 2002 music staff plan to launch an inventory of the collection, adding copies and volumes to each catalog record.
