  • Searching Music Materials in the Online Catalog

  • A guide for online catalog users, "Searching for Music Materials in CUNY+," written by librarian Honora Raphael, was added to the "Research Resource: Music" page on the Library's Web site.

  • New E-Resources for Music Students and Faculty

  • At the start of the spring 2001 term the Music Library was outfitted with a public access computer dedicated to Internet access. The Library's acquisition of electronic versions of the two most important English-language research resources for music topics, The New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians and RILM made this public-access equipment essential.

With more and more electronic full-text available, both on campus and through the proxy server, the Music Library's staff have aggressively publicized these new resources and trained readers their use. Staff training must be on-going, to guarantee excellent public service.

  • An Inventory for the Music Collection
  • With the closing of the shelf list, in spring 2002 music staff plan to launch an inventory of the collection, adding copies and volumes to each catalog record.
