"Our initial attempt at an objective-based reward proved unsuccessful because (1) the tasks were too difficult and students could not fulfill them; (2) staff reported that students were too busy with their school work to participate. Suzie Samuel then recommended that she reward those staff who had gone above and beyond the call of duty during the semester. She identified three staff members who were consistently on time, solved the most technical problems, and volunteered their time when the Library Café was understaffed. The winners were: Regi Varghese, Patrick Reis, and Carlo Estanislao." Nicholas Irons, Associate Director for Faculty Training & Development
The Library Café's student workers are student aides, not CAs, paid only $5.30 an hour. They need and deserve some little "extras." The chief librarian provided a number of Barnes & Noble gift certificates for this purpose.
