Chief Librarian Barbra Higginbotham was elected to the American Library Association's governing body, ALA Council http://www.ala.org/alaorg/council/index.html. The American Library Association has 70,000 members; Council is a body of 170 librarians. Professor Higginbotham was also elected vice-president of the executive committee of the Board of Directors of the Metropolitan New York Reference and Research Library Agency (METRO) http://www.metro.org/ab_trust.html.

Associate Librarian for Collection Development Susan Vaughn was elected to the EBSCO Users Group. EBSCO is the jobber for the bulk of our print journal subscriptions and the supplier of many of our full-text e-journals.
