On September 4 and 5, 2001, we toured and entertained Dr. CHEN Zhao-neng, university librarian at Shanghai Jiao-Tong University http://www.lib.sjtu.edu.cn/english/. Dr. Chen hosted Professor Higginbotham in October 2000 during her lecture trip to China sponsored by the PRC's Ministry of Culture. The Library and Academic IT sponsored a lovely reception for Dr. Chen, attended by the president and well-photographed by Public Relations staff. Jim Cai of Academic IT who is fluent in both English and Mandarin, as well as in Western and Eastern cultures, was invaluable during Dr. Chen's stay, serving as his escort and host.
