THE FUTURE

The New Library:

  • Determining the best use of resources that result from gifts to the new Library


  • Selecting art acquisitions for the new Library


  • Reviewing and updating all Library and Academic IT access policies, including those for space, collections, and equipment


  • Familiarizing staff and security officers with the new building so that they can answer readers' directional questions


  • Developing specifications for the signs in the new building for whose creation staff will be responsible

  • Developing specifications for Library publications (fonts, logo)

  • Collections:

  • Creating an oral history for the Alfred Collection


  • Preparing and implementing a digitization plan for our archival collections (print, still image, and moving image), including standards for quality control, benchmarking, and metadata
  • Instruction:

  • Participating in the College's "gateway courses" initiative, designed to provide supplemental help to students in certain introductory courses in the departments of Biology, Chemistry, Computer and Information Science, Economics, and Mathematics
  • Information Access:

  • Choosing an e-reserves system


  • Implementing reader-initiated document delivery
  • Technology for Teaching & Learning:

  • Planning and implementing PDA applications for Library services


  • Participating in the College's new TLTR


  • Implementing the new Technology Master Plan


  • Exploring new opportunities to deliver curricula via technology


  • Inaugurating an equipment replacement cycle in the Library Café
