Study Carrels |

Things to Remember!
  • Located throughout the Library are individual study carrels that are freely available to students. You can use these desks (which seat one person and provide individual lighting) to study or do homework.
  • Many of these carrels also have electrical outlets, allowing you to plug in your personal laptop (and connect to the the wireless network) and study while the Library is open.

Study Carrels

If all you want to do at the Library is sit quietly at a desk and study or do your homework, you may be interested in the dozens of study carrels located throughout the building. Each carrel is a desk with a chair and a lamp. The carrels do not have computers, but many have electrical outlets that allow you to plug in your personal laptop and connect to the wireless network. (Please, never leave your belongings unattended!)

These desks are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Therefore, you can use any carrel that is not already occupied. You are welcome to stay at a carrel for as long as the Library is open.

Please remember that it is against Library policy to bring food with you into the building. Drinks are allowed only if they are in resealable containers, such as travel mugs or bottles with twist-off caps. If you get hungry, you are welcome to make use of the Library Cafe or student cafeteria. Alternatively, you can get a quick snack from a vending machine in any nearby building. Please refrain from sneaking any of your food into the Library with you.
